Elliott’s first camera was a Kodak box camera he received when he was six years old. He used it to compose action adventure stories featuring his action figures and his sister, Judy, who was always the heroine.
He enjoys photographing every day objects from unusual perspectives, and vast vistas as well as the minutia of autumn leaf falls. Fascinated by the integral interdependence of shadow and light and with a keen eye for textures and colors, Elliott has also extensively photographed wildlife and flora in Southern California including wildflowers in the desert at Death Valley. He also has explored with his camera at Imperial Dunes, Joshua Tree and Anza Borrego. The city of Avalon, Catalina’s back country, and the lush green landscapes of Ireland and Canadian locales including Nova Scotia and the Rockies have also been favorite subjects.
“Rosie Tries on a Witchy Hat” is one of more than 1,000 images Elliott has made of people and events in the greater Los Angeles area’s pagan community.
Elliott’s important photographic series include the portfolios “Tree Shadows,” “Palms,” “Famous Skies,” “Star Spangled Rags,” “Shadow is Essential to Light,” “Fallen,” “The Path Not Taken,” “Poets and Their Audiences,” “30 Pagans,” “Krotona,” “Postcards from Whittier College,” and “Through the Looking Glass.”
Deploying his camera to creatively celebrate beauty is very important to Elliott, also known as “Beautyseer.” His glamour photography to date includes “Three Women,” “In Studio,” and “Visions of Mara.” Models he has photographed include Holley Dorrough, Playboy magazine’s April 2006 Playmate.
