About Me
Below is my Bio and statement taken from my website, www.austineddy.com
Bio: I was born in Berkeley California to a couple of hippie artists who met each other in a buddhist community. I was seemingly destined to have a creative if not strange life. My father was a notable and accomplished artist in the ancient tradition of tibetan thangka painting. I was exposed to his process at an early stage and I think I did learn some of what it means to be persistent and patient in the creative process. As I continued with my education I was continually recognized for my talent in the visual arts and was always encouraged to pursue art in my life. In 2001 I was awarded a summer scholarship to attend the Academy of Art University in San Francisco where I got hooked on animation and later received my BFA in 2005. After School I had the opportunity to work as an animator on some of the biggest films in the last decade. Although you may not have heard of me you most likely have seen my work in Avatar, The Hobbit, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and other films. After 10 years working in the film and animation world I decided to focus on my original passion of painting and fine art. I currently work and reside in Portland Oregon. Statement: I am committed to making the beauty and unique mystery of the human experience tangible and accessible. The world around me and my experience of life inspire the visions that are conveyed in my work. Aesthetic quality gives value to what's created and presented. My visual language is formed from moments stumbled upon, ideas emanating from personal interactions, history, philosophy, science, art, religion, spirituality, politics, culture, and technology, or to put it more simply, contemporary life. The feeling of discovery, no matter how subjective, that a viewer finds in my work and turns into a meaningful relationship in their own lives is what drives my commitment to creating
