My younger years of study in theater production, painting and film photography molded my artistic sensibilities. My younger years of study in theater production, painting and film photography molded my artistic sensibilities. “Culture is what remains when we have forgotten everything and technology always perfects itself after the fact.” We are not hatched from a virgin egg all knowing. Inevitably, we are the result of our acquired influences and knowledge. Therefore, I devoured the art of Greek statuary and Latin grammar in order to develop and nurture my own style.
Born on the French Riviera, light holds a great influence upon me. The clear-obscure light of Caravaggio, African and Orientalist canvases, and my incessant journeys to the Sahara – the sun dancing on the waves of the Mediterranean, water puddles after summer rains and the moon reflected on the sea witnessed by the steadfast presence of boulders of the never ending islands of my childhood – light which refreshes and revitalizes the soul. Never forgetting to pay homage to the light of the first photographers is my aim; those pioneers who did not enjoy digital technology which corrects all traces of imperfection.
Transcending the concept of beauty, a subjective notion, I seek in each and every one of my models a creative freshness and an indefinable objective which adorns them each in their uniqueness.
