Born in Santa Barbara, raised in San Francisco, I began sewing at an early age for my dolls and myself. My older cousin from Galveston, Barell, taught me how to sew my first blouse from a pillowcase. It was on then, I began sewing everything. People asked me where I got my clothes. I told them I made them. After that the rest was history. I made a myriad of other stuff always making sure that I made outfits for myself that no one else had.

As a student of the FIDM, San Francisco, and ADAM in Alameda, I was able to hone my skills as a designer. Marriage and raising 3 sons kept me quite busy, and my goal of becoming an “international” fashion designer was waylaid. I continued various avenues of design by creating Designs by Nuchi’e.

After several years of living in the valley, and an extensive commute, we came back home to Oakland. This is a formal announcement that Designs by Nuchi’e has gotten a makeover I have a new name, new logo, and look forward to new and fashion forward projects in the future. This year I am letting go and letting God. I am back with a vengeance, a new attitude and Adorna Couture Designs.
