Camry Vonyae’ A’Keen was born in Shelby, Mississippi and raised in Albany, Georgia. She grew up excelling in many extracurricular activities such as dance, chorus, x-country, and cheerleading while in grade school. In college A’Keen studied biology and chemistry at Valdosta State University, where she conducted and presented research, co-founded one of VSU’s first multicultural women’s organizations and was deemed Campus Celebrity by the university’s domestic news paper.

Through all of her endeavors, A’Keen has always found a way to thread her passion for the fashion industry into her day-to-day activities and roles in life. This passion grew into her becoming a muse for southern professional photographers and a part-time stylist for a local retail store during the remainder of her college career (2012). After graduation (2014) she began working with the state government lab in agriculture where she discovered her path was about to take a huge turn for the better!

Following a proposal from her now husband, Du’Bois A’Keen (2015), she joined him in New York hopeful for a career in the fashion world she had only dreamed about. It did not take long for A’Keen to land modelling gigs and styling opportunities due to her natural contoured look and unique aesthetics, which has afforded her the opportunity to work with brands/companies such as: Vanidades Magazine (2015), Ana Reyes Designs (2015), American Eagle Outfitters (2016), Free To Be Chic Jewelry (2016), and Madame New York (2016).

A'Keen has done wardrobe styling for professional dance members to Editorial. Her work has been published in multiple magazines including digital. Her designs have also been featured in editorial magazine as well as worn by New York's elite.

A’Keen’s life purpose is to empower women in anything they do, by setting the example that it is possible. Apart from being someone who is always doing research and studying, A’Keen also incorporates and manages her career and love for fashion. She has found harmony in highlighting all aspects of her talents.
