Update: After a decade of shooting weddings, I am transitioning into boudoir photography, and I'm interested in a portfolio of all female body types.

Hi! I’m Carl Petersen, an award winning photographer and filmmaker. My style is a balance of timeless class and candid journalism. I would characterize my photography as Artistic Lifestyle. I give direction and then let people create the magic from there. I will redirect as much as needed, but there remains a movement to my images which comes from my background in filmmaking.

I lived in Los Angeles for 11 years pursuing acting and filmmaking. My experience directing and producing has greatly shaped the way I shoot and work with clients. I started working more behind the camera in 2009 and developed a new love in photography. I went on to train and work with some of the top photographers in the nation covering high-end Los Angeles weddings, private events on Rodeo Drive, and New Year’s Eve parties at MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.


I’ve been featured by Seattle Bride Magazine, Wedding Chicks, Baubles & Bowties, Gay Wedding Ideas, BasicInvite, 2Brides2Be, Desh Videsh Magazine, Gay Weddings and Marriage Magazine, Secret Wedding Blog, and Gig Harbor Living Local Magazine. Expertise has listed us among the top portrait photographers in Tacoma.
