About Me

I'm working in nineteenth century wetplate photography. It creates one-of-a-kind images on metal or glass and requires archaic photochemical processes to create a unique look. I work with traditional large format 4x5 and 8x10 view cameras. This is a transformative process in that it is photosensitive to the blue end of the the visible spectrum. That means as a monochromatic image, blues turn very light and reds go very dark. I need models that are comfortable with that. To be specific - freckles become more pronounced, blue eyes turn very light etc. It's a beautiful process and aesthetically similar to portraits we see from the Civil War era.
