I create portraits of people as a still image or as a video vignette.  I like to photograph people that I find interesting.  I try to distill the magic of the person into a compelling single glimpse.  If my subject is dull and boring, I'm not going to try to change them but rather amplify the flatness of their lives and try to show their personality as a desert, flat and simple, but with perhaps a bit of beauty in that alone.

I try to bring to my images a  sense of timelessness that reflects the world I've seen change but stay the same.  If I'm asked "when was that taken"  about a picture I recently shot  and the viewer is left with a sense that it might be the simpler world of the 1950's, the wild ride of the 1960's and 70's, or the frenetic life of technical change that we live in now -- then I know that I've succeeded.
