Graduate-to-be from Columbia College Chicago with a degree in Fine Art Photography. Photographer for Chicago publishing, and content creating, collective HOIST (hoistmakes.com / @hoistmakes). Most of my most current work consists of freelance work of friends, musicians, etc. of the Do-It-Yourself music scene here in Chicago. I have been involved in the scene musically for about four years, and have photographed many artists for promotion, professional head shots, group photos, and even for album covers as well. I also love street photography and the aspect it brings of the photographic moment. This is one of my favorite styles as it allows me to truly look through my camera and capture subjects unknowingly. However, I enjoy shooting any style, working with others, (designers, costumers, sets/props, etc.) and helping to create and visualize people's ideas. I enjoy fine art the most simply because my work in that area involves the manipulation of the two constants in any photograph, light and shadow. This focus on formal qualities allowed me to learn lighting techniques easily, to which I can now properly set up, use, and control both hot lights and strobes. I also have access to this equipment via rental from, or simply in, the in-house studios at Columbia. With my college experience coming to an end, I want to continue making my work and being apart of others work as well.
