About Me

UPDATE- Oct. 20, 2021
Well, the fires are finally out! (now I need to find models who aren't afraid of the rain, hehe)  The air has cleared and the temps have dropped a bit, so I'm ready to get back out and shoot again. However, being evacuated (twice) and living in my RV for a while was a gutpunch to my finances, so I'm going to have to shoot TFP for a while until I can restore my photo budget. I'm always looking for amateur models and photo friends so shoot me a message and let's go shoot something smile  Anyway, here's the other stuff.
Hey, I'm Tony and I LOVE TAKING PHOTOS.  If I had the money to just live and not worry about bills, I'd be out now taking photos and giving them away because it fills my creative heart.
To all the models, photographers, retouchers and others  who are using this site for networking- You'll certainly meet photographers who are more serious, better equipped and simply better at taking photos but you won't find anyone who is as happy doing it as I am. Currently, my favorite places to shoot are Crescent City, Eureka, Fort Bragg and Mendocino. I also just discovered this cool place down the road called Burney Falls where I would love to hold a shoot. Those who've worked with me know I like to have fun and allow all involved to have creative input.

I've been a newspaper reporter and photographer since 1999 and have now worked at the Trinity Journal in Weaverville for two years. I've just won a first place and three more top five awards from the California Newspaper Publishers Association for weekly newspapers around the state. I 'm also a volunteer firefighter/Medical responder, and have had both my shots of the Moderna vaccine. I’m  certain I can maintain safe distancing and I'm happy to mask up if we go indoors.
I've spent my career so far getting photos that show exactly what one would see at the scene of a news event- no photoshop, no filters. While I can snap a shot of a firefighter going into a smoky burning building without a second's planning, I still struggle with planned portrait shoots and creative lighting- But I'm learning all the time.
I love working with others to bring ideas to life, or just direct the action with a willing subject. Occasionally, I can get my fiance out in front of the camera and I have a few friends here, but I'm still new to the area and only know a few people, none of whom want a camera pointed at them.
So- I'm looking to meet models and other photographers to share tips, experiment with photo styles and just have fun. I love light painting, wire wool, open shutter, wide angle, forced perspective, fire, smoke and special effects photos. I don't need a retoucher, as I do it myself (rarely). I'll even correspond by email if you want to chat.
If you want to meet virtually and share ideas, that'd be great. If you want to go out and see what we can come up with, I'll keep my distance for our safety.  Since I’m mostly planning to shoot outside (in the 50 to 200mm range).
Models- If you come on a photo shoot with me, you’re not just going to pose, you’re going to do some acting. I have things in my head that may require you to drop everything you know about still modeling and put yourself in a different frame of mind. I don’t need you to be vogue so much as I need you to be in the moment and the creative mindset. (and don't worry, I will never direct you to "look at me like you look at your boyfriend." That's just creepy) Models don't need to be runway/magazine caliber and I'm happy to work with first-time models.  All I ask is that you have enthusiasm and patience, as I'm often refining ideas as they unfold.
You'll find me calm, patient and respectful at all times.
I'm currently in Weaverville (about 44 miles west of Redding, off Highway 299), but I can travel around Northern California for the right shoots. There's not much around here in the way of inspiring backdrops, but I do have permission to use a few properties after hours, including an auto wrecking yard, a cool retro-comic cafe and a movie theater.
Also- I LOVE shooting in abandoned houses, wrecking yards, industrial areas, tunnels, abandoned vehicles and so forth. If you know of a cool location around the Trinity, Shasta, Siskiyou area, please let me know about it.
Also happy to work with LGBTQ TS TV TG  people, even if you choose not to have your photos featured on my public portfolio. I won't out you and I will be alert and mindful of your safety at all times.
On a reporter's salary, I can't afford to pay premium right now but I'm also not looking to get paid a lot... I'm always willing to shoot TFP for new models. I'm looking to expand my portfolios and I'm assuming you are, too since you're still reading this. Sign a release and I'll give you duplicates of any photos I take. For those of us just getting started, it's a win/win, right? Let's help each other out smile
I DO charge for basic photo shoots, such as senior photos, graduation stuff, group shots, passports, dating site photos and so forth, but only if it's nearby and can be done without a lot of hang time.. PS- I don't do weddings or baby photos. I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT do anything that depicts death, gore, blood or sexual violence, even if it's just makeup.
Thanks for checking me out and I hope to hear from you soon- Cheers
