I live in Charleston, SC and I'm a Fine Artist that explores many subject matters and refuses to lock myself into one category. I was trained formally at The Ringling College of Art and Design, graduated with honor as I studied computer animation which relied heavily of knowledge of the human body and how it movies in space. I frequently do figure drawing studies from live models as my main goal is to bridge the gap between Fine Art and Fantasy/ScienceFiction/Gothic and even Steampunk/Victorian based subject matters. In the past few years, there have been many blessing with huge amounts of work in Oil Painting Commissions, Book Covers and Game Design. I was trained to be an art director and art directors really have to be able to draw and paint anything the client asks for. I do not believe in using unknown photo sources or "stealing" another photographer/model's hard work. I believe in asking legal permission for use of a particular image that will work for a certain project. I like to work with models I know and and speak my language. Creating content based work relies on really communicating well with the photographer and the model of what I need in the look of the model, his or her facial expressions, clothing for the image, etc. I have several good friends that model as I do a lot of comic conventions and more and more people are wanting to hire me to do their book and now album covers, personal work and video and board game art direction and design along with movie companies are now calling me for possible work. This results in me needing more good, professional models and photographers. This is why I want to join and see who is local that can help. :)
