Looking at Ross Muir's profound paintings it's difficult to believe he has had no formal art training and is completely self taught.
And this is all the more remarkable when you see the instinctive, innate talent that he has and which he transfers with such depth and dexterity to the canvas.
A deeply thoughtful man Ross is a perfectionist in the execution of pushing the boundaries of what he perceives to be his artistic shortcomings and, in the process, his technique and confident brushwork are there for all to see.
Ross is equally at ease when painting, often forlorn female figures full frame size or in miniature or tackling a more comical portrait of John Byrne. And it is this commitment to pushing his own artistic boundaries which has won him an avid following of art devotees who await his latest work with much anticipation.
