Andrea Cheese entered the world of beauty as a professional at EHD Hair Designs. There, she perfected her craft on styling and haircutting skills and gained notoriety in the industry among her peers as well as by her growing list of clientele. With a goal in sight, Andrea took her dream one step further - she decided to take part in photo shoots and numerous hair events. This gave her the advantage of recognition among her peers and just as importantly, among reputable organizations within the industry.

In 1994 Andrea took yet another bold step with her then business partner Sheila Nixon, she open the renowned salon... Shades of Essence Hair Designers where she continued to dominate the industry leaving her indelible mark with her flawless haircuts and outstanding color applications.

With an unending ambition to grow both personally and professionally and not one who has a "wait and see" attitude, Andrea reached out in the trade show circuit, where she conducted platform artistry for Straight Request Products. This gave her the opportunity to teach countless seminars on hair cutting and coloring... and yes... mentoring other hairstylists while she herself continued to learn and hone her craft. This hunger to learn more and to be the best in the industry leads Andrea to be a force to be reckoned with. Her work has been featured on the covers and in the pages of numerous hair magazines; including Q & A columns on hair coloring in "Trends". Her fierce reputation for perfections has resulted in her being recognized as the "no nonsense" coordinator of numerous photo and video productions for major beauty publications through the industry. With this kind of tenacity and dedication, it is not at all surprising that Andrea was requested to participate in the editing of International Black Passion, one of the oldest, most respected and successful black hair magazines. With her vison and keen eye for trends in the industry, Andrea is one of those professionals who have assisted in taking the genre of the magazine to yet another level. Today, she continues to be a Senior Editor for the same magazine.

One of Andrea's crowning achievements is her ability to give back by the mentoring and teaching of new beauty school graduates giving them a distinct advantage as they enter the industry. It is no at all surprising that her efforts are rewarded by the fact that nearly ninety percent of those enterprising novice hair stylists she has mentored over the years have gone on to follow in her footsteps and become themselves successful business owners.

Andrea's boundless energy and relentless drive still continues, today she still runs a successful salon in Farmingdale, N.Y. and through her vision founded the company THE EDGE BEAUTY. She tirelessly juggles motherhood, beauty school, photo and video shoots and her long travels across the country where she teaches as well as at times becomes the student herself.

Andrea's most profound belief is "Education and Knowledge is the only way to maintain the integrity of our industry" she should have included "Intestinal Fortitude" which she so strongly lives every day.
