About Me

Originally I studied science at the University of Alberta and worked as a chemist for several years. Now I am an artist involved in painting, sculpture, photography and installations. I am interested exclusively in fine art photography and I am looking for female models that I can build a rapport with. In the past I worked with male models, now I want to change direction a little to renew my photographic work.

I am looking for female models interested in fine art photography rather than fashion portfolio building. I am a great admirer of Ruth Bernhard (http://www.artnet.com/galleries/debra-heimerdingerfine-art-photographs/artist-ruth-bernhard/), undoubtedly the best female nude photographer of the 20th century, and possible in all of the history of photography. I also love the photography of Lucien Clergue (http://www.anneclergue.fr/lucien-clergue-portfolio-nus) and Herb Ritts (http://www.herbritts.com/#/archive/photo). I also like Irving Penn, Edward Weston, Imogen Cunnigham, and others.

In my current project I intend to build sets, and photograph female figures in those sets so as to achieve surrealist imagery. The female figures will be either nude or using wearable sculpture and in some instances, clothing. This will require a model who can look past the trappings of fashion photography, fetishist or erotic photography, or just plain exhibitionism. I prefer a natural model who has not shaved or waxed her body, without any cosmetic surgery, preferably without tattoos, or tattoos small enough to be inconspicuous, without piercings. I am looking to create sculptural forms, like Greek statues lost in a surreal state. Depending on the success of this work, I might attempt later to go on location outside the studio although I prefer the controlled lighting conditions of studio work.

If you as a model intend to build a fashion or commercial portfolio for runway or print work, it is best to try a different photographer. I can supply proofs and copies for your own use, but I am not sure if they will be suitable for fashion or commercial work. No experience is necessary and age is not a factor as long as you are over 18 years of age. The only requirement is that you be comfortable working on nude photography with a male photographer, and working with wearable sculpture for short periods of time. If any of this sounds interesting, contact me stating your compensation expectations, mostly to determine if my budget is adequate to meet your needs.
