About Me

Harlan Erskine’s photography has been exhibited at the Photographic Resource Center, the Miami Art Museum and Ambrosino Gallery, which showed his photography at the PalmBeach3, Art Basel Miami Beach, and Pulse art fairs. In 2008, Erskine exhibited a one-person show, Black Sun Project at the Bas Fisher Invitational.

In 2006, a photograph from Erskine’s series, Ten Convenient Stores, was included in a exhibition at the Miami Art Museum curated by Andy Goldsworthy entitled, Modern Photographs: The Machine, the Body and the City Selections from the Charles Cowles Collection. The show was comprised of artwork that had been donated to the museum’s permanent collection.

From 2005-2007, Harlan worked as an in-house photographer at Crispin Porter + Bogusky. While there, he photographed for companies including Ad Council, Coke, Geek Squad, Miller, MINI Cooper, Pearl Izumi, Truth and Volkswagen. Erskine has also shot editorial for XLR8R, THEME Magazine, The Blow Up, Tate Magazine (UK), The Source, The L Magazine, Harvard Business Review and Brooklyn Magazine.

Erskine received his MFA from the School of Visual Arts in 2009. In the thesis show, he exhibited selections from Imaginary Wars. This series was awarded third place in the Linhof Young Photographers Award. Later a selection was featured at the Photographic Resource Center’s juried show.

In February 2013, Erskine’s artist publication, Ten Convenient Stores, was included in the anthology, “Various Small Books Referencing Various Small Books by Ed Ruscha,” published by MIT Press. Erskine’s book is included in the group show, “Ed Ruscha Books & Co.” which originated at Gagosian Gallery on Madison Avenue in New York. It traveled in the summer to The Brandhorst Museum in Munich, Germany.

Erskine currently lives in Brooklyn where he shoots editorial, commercial and his own projects.
