Nic spent 15 years working in the advertising industry in London, UK, as a high end creative retoucher, specialising in photographic multi-composite work and later then training and managing teams to do the same.
Nic found himself drawn back to working with traditional media and has returned full time to his first love of oil painting and charcoal works, combining much of his creative learnings and experience in advertising with his evolving fine art abilities with traditional media for the first time, preferring to focus his direction towards contemporary realism with an emphasis on human figures in the narrative's running through his work.
Maintaining his links with photographers and his love of photography, Nic gravitates to painting work that often would be too complex and impossible to depict from life alone. Nic says "I often like to include deliberate nuances of in camera occurrences of beauty I observe and consider to be beneficial to the story I am telling, combined with the textural and gestural mark making qualities that paint has to offer".
Nic is currently working on a new body of work to be released in 2016 which will focus around themes of rebirth with a narrative containing underlying tones of commentary on society intertwined with life and death cycles.
