About Me

Hi,

welcome and thanks for stepping in and being part of my audience.

Models, don't ask for pay shootings. At the moment I'm only available for TfP.
Yes, I work with male or female models and customers.

------------
Models, pls. read my "Hints for model requests" below.
Customers, pls. read my "Hints for customer requests" below.
Retouchers, pls. read my "Hints for retoucher requests" below.
I'm not willing to explain these restrictions again in an eMail.

"about  me" in short (more for interested people below) :
I want to document moments of life, environment and light in pictures that people will love and which will inspire them.
Everything is photogenic; the challenge is to always find the best perspective/scenery and best available light.

Feel free to comment my work in a constructive way.

You can always contact me if you have offerings, questions or projects.
However, I don't need friend requests without any individual words.

My work/services requires skills, investment and time, so I expect getting paid for it.
TfP is the option for interesting ideas or experimental work.
I pay for models only when I explicitly need your outstanding skills/experience for a project.

Newcomer models are welcome, too. Guidance to newcomers can be provided on a previously discussed free (only small basics) or paid basis.

I always only work based on a before signed and agreed contract / model release, because I like to work on a clearly defined and drama free basis.

I'm open minded to almost everything. My limit is set by German law and I will not do hardcore or pornographic work.

When working with children or minor persons (less than 18 years), there must always be at least one legal guardian present during the work.

I'm potentially available for shoots in Europe, USA, Canada and on the Caribbean Islands. As long as nothing else is specified, cost absorption by the customer is obligatory for all travel and accommodation expenses, when working outside the town of Garching (Munich/Germany).

Contract penalties for PAY shootings:
Whenever you work with me on a PAY base, you agree on the following cancellation fees. In case of canceling a PAY shooting, the canceling part has to pay the other part the following cancellation fee without any further notice and it is due at date/time of cancellation:
- up to 10 days before the shooting - no cancellation fee
- 9 until 5 days before the shooting - 10% of agreed fee
- 5 until 1 days before the shooting - 25% of agreed fee
- at the day of the shooting - 50% of agreed fee
Appropriate attorney fees may apply in addition

Hints for model requests (please read):
Shooting requests should be addressed to me at least 4 - 6 weeks in advance before the planned date, otherwise I'll normally need to abuse it. You've got to plan and I've got to plan and probably we've got to develop picture/set ideas.
In case you want to get paid by me, I'm expecting experienced models with references and - aligned with your experience - a realistic, fair and reasonable price per hour.
A portfolio with a few selfies in social media like instagram, youtube, facebook as a reference is nice. Without a relevant audience group of followers better think twice.
Experiences, which I expect from PAID models are:
"A paid model must in general be able in a professional way - after a suitable preliminary talk - to
- communicate in fluent English or German
- do her/his make-up by her/himself (or to instruct a MUA in a suitable way)
- dress her/himself to fulfill the requirements (incl. suitable basic outfits),
- set her/himself in the requested pose and if applicable to provide suggestions based on her/his experience."
Pricing:
Prices higher than average require reliable extraordinary references higher than average (e.g. cover model for Playboy, commercial shootings for well-known companies, fashion shootings for Vogue, leading actor/actress in film). My analogy for price calculation of models is the price calculation of master craftsmen/-women who usually learn their business, participate in regular advanced trainings and have a relevant experience in their job before achieving high rates.
Also I'm only paying based on a average single rate per hour price for all agreed genres, never different prices per category / genres.
Accommodation and travel expenses:
As long as I don’t explicitly request you for a specific project, I don’t compensate your accommodation or travel expenses.
I'm a frequent traveler since 20 years and planning and booking all my trips by myself. So I know about travel expenses and how to avoid or reduce it. Better don't tell me, that your rates for a model tour are high, because of high travel costs.
Location:
Before doing a shooting at any location, I always need to know the location in order to plan and develop a concept for the shooting. Thus I'm not interested in shootings in hotels, studios or locations that I haven't seen personally before. In case I want to do a shooting in a special location, I'm able to book, check the location and pay for it by myself.
Please keep this in mind, before you try to offer me a location.

Hints for customer requests (please read):
Project requests for shootings should be addressed to me
- at least 1 – 2 months in advance, when model and location is provided by you or
- at least 3 – 4 months in advance, when model and/or location must be selected/provided by me,
otherwise I'll normally need to abuse it.
Shooting projects need to be planned carefully to be successful, so please reckon enough time for this part.
Pricing:
My price calculation for customer projects is based on my effort estimation out of my experience of similar projects and costs caused by requested additional services (e.g. model selection, location research, retouching services). I don’t make offers without having an explicit project description.
Accommodation and travel expenses:
While working outside the town of Garching (Munich/Germany) cost absorption by the customer is obligatory for all travel and accommodation expenses, for my person as well as for any model which is contracted / hired based on my support services.
If required, cost absorption by the customer is also obligatory for getting photography permissions / support from local authorities.
Details of cost absorption will be part of the contract negotiations.
Location:
Some locations (especially outdoor) require explicit (legal or copyright) permission for doing photography there. While nothing else is specified, it is the duty of the customer to take care of this.
Before doing a shooting at any location, I always need to know the location in order to plan and develop a concept for the shooting. Please reckon enough time (e.g. preparation day) for onsite check and preparation.

Hints for retoucher requests(please read):
Folks, I really love your work. But most time me and my clients don't need high sophisticated art work.
Simple basic highlight, brightness and color adjustments, that can be done in Lightroom by just clicking on a free preset, can also be done by myself.
In case I need more than this I will directly search for a retoucher and ask for your help, but not before.
A list of max. 5 good retoucher contacts in MM is enough for me.
Check out the Forums, Contests and Shout function of MM, if you want to promote yourself in a reasonable way.

For more interested people, my longer photographers history:
I started taking pictures at the age of nine, when I received my first camera from my grandfather. Up to the age of 16 most of the pics I did were of nature and family members. In the age of 17 my arts teacher in secondary school was seeking for a student doing a photo documentation in architecture photography on a controversial building project in my home city. I accepted this chance and learned the whole photo creation and development process including the creation of b&w prints in the photographic laboratory within the year of doing this job. Finally my work was awarded with the 2nd place of a regional competition in school art works.

After finishing secondary school with the university-entrance diploma I stopped photography - against the advice of my arts teacher - started studying computer science and business economics, finished it with a diploma in business economics and started working in this business as an IT consultant.

It was in 2004, when my way lead me back to photography and video, too, because of taking pictures and videos at Salsa Events in Germany. In 2006 lots of popular international Salsa Artists recommended me to do it in a more professional way and started supporting me. Since 2006 I took more than 30.000 pictures of Salsa Events, which are available in my shop.

In 2008 I decided to change focus from taking Salsa pictures into more business and profit oriented categories, like individual shoots, portrait, panorama, outdoor and sensual art photography. Now I'm working with models since 2013 and business is getting better with every shooting. Support to reach my goal is welcome.

Have a nice and successful picture day,
Didi

"I was invited to an outdoor shoot with Didi in Munich this past October. Didi was very well prepared and organized. He found an excellent location to suit exactly what I had in mind and he has captured and edited some great shots. Was also really prepared for our pre-agreed fruit play shoot in his well equipped small home studio. Felt very comfortable and safe. Thanks Didi" Read less
