David Davies is a Master Photographer and Photographic Craftsman who took up photography as a hobby while serving as an electronics technician in the US Navy. In his free time while in the navy, Dave would spend hours in the photo hobby shop mastering his passion. Interests in both photography and computers have provided the perfect background for the recent emergence of digital imaging.

A large part of Dave’s navy service was spent repairing computers used to track submarines. After the navy, Dave attended Shippensburg University majoring in the electrical engineering. Courses such as physics, calculus, and FORTRAN programming kept him in touch with the computer field. After two years at SU, Dave was offered a job at a local army depot. He left school to return to the field of electronics, eventually landing a job as a computer specialist enabling Dave to keep abreast of the state of the art developments in the computer field.

Dave fulfilled one of his ambitions by opening a full time studio, Davies Photography, in 1989. Located in Shippensburg, PA Davies Photography provided diverse services such as senior, family, commercial, and digital imaging to a small community in central Pennsylvania.

Dave is a member of Professional Photographers of America and Professional Photographers of North Carolina. He has served on the board of directors for Triangle Photographers Association and Professional Photographers of Pennsylvania. Dave served as President of Triangle Photographers Association in 1998.

Photographic awards earned include Pennsylvania Photographer of the Year 2000, 1999 Kodak Gallery Award in Electronic Imaging, PP of A General collection prints in 1995, 1996, 1997, 2000,
PP of A Loan Collection prints in 1995, 1996, 1997, and 2000, American Society of Photographers Traveling Loan Collection 1997, 2000, Mid East States Wedding Award, PP of PA 320 club 1995, 1996, 1997, and 2000 and numerous other state and local awards. Dave’s images have been chosen for display at Epcot as part of their annual gallery award display.

Dave has been teaching Photoshop Since 1993 with the introduction of version 2.5. His programs on Environmental Lighting, Desktop Publishing, Web Site Development and Design, Network Design and Management have been taught throughout the United States.
