California-based creative Richard Spasoff is an award-winning fine art photographer and accomplished contemporary artist. His strikingly innovative and exuberant style translates what he sees into abstract images and figures leading us gently into his dream world with a well harmonized bold celebration of color. A self-taught artist, Richard began his artistic career at an early age. Richard’s photographs are featured in a national publication on healing arts, and he has held one-man art gallery shows in La Jolla, Las Vegas, as well as in Mexico.

He has also worked at Universal Studies in Hollywood and at Keepers of the Wild in Arizona doing art images of the animals. Richard’s sensitivity and unusual creativity come forth in his work in a modern surrealistic style that allows others to appreciate the beauty and share their sentiments with their loved ones through the images he creates. Collectors of Richard’s work include George Carlin, Willie Nelson, Smothers Brothers, Gary Owens and Ronnie Schell.

RICHARD SPASOFF PHOTOGRAPHY

A multi-faceted creative force who has brought his passion and dedication to and enjoyed great success in a wide range of artistic endeavors, Richard Spasoff has brings decades of experience to his work as a photographer of all manner of subjects – including over 40 years as a first call Comedy photographer.

Beyond his training and expertise in composition and the unique eye he has for colors and textures as well as the starkness of black and white photos, his gift for capturing emotion makes him the ideal choice for those in need of Non traditional and traditional shots.

He takes with his Canon R6,R5, EOS 90D to his clients, he allows them to choose at least 24 that he will edit, photoshop and “fix up” to achieve the perfect result.
Richard is also a masterful visual artist specializing in modern impressionism and abstract and fine art, including striking, vibrant digital paintings created from photographs. The thousands of images he has on his photography website. (http://www.viewbug.com/member/richardspasoff) include
glamorous female models in unusual or surreal settings, candid slice of life shots of people and animals, vehicles, unique buildings, wine glasses and produce - and stunning nature photography with an emphasis on the details of flowers. He also has an array of images of abstract digital art.

As one prominent art critic and journalist says, “Richard’s attention to intricate details is only surpassed by the vividness and richness of his visual imagination.”
Richard’s passion for photography began at age 12 and he took numerous traditional
photography courses throughout his time in junior high, high school (when his photographs won awards at the Del Mar Fair) and later at Palomar College and Miramar College.

He began his career as a police photographer (chronicling everything from crime scenes to cockfights) before becoming a freelance photojournalist for numerous San Diego County publications.

Longing to make more of a difference with his talent for creating powerful images, he formed a group of volunteer photographers called Agrupacion Cerro Colorado and took his team to Tijuana numerous times to chronicle the poverty there so as to motivate people on the U.S. side of the border (including at churches) to make charitable contributions to alleviate the suffering.

In line with other projects – including music – that he began doing within the realm of the
healing arts, he collaborated with the School of the Healing Arts to create a nationally released book on the art of Shiatsu massage, a form of Japanese bodywork. Richard then shifted gears and began focusing on comedy photography, setting up and directing hilarious scenes that he captured on film and shared with the hope and effect of making people laugh at funny and absurd life situations or amusing juxtapositions.

While engaging in all these unique endeavors throughout his career, Richard also built a solid clientele who sought him out for his exquisite work as a portrait photographer.

Richard’s interest in the healing arts extends to his many years of composing and recording music to promote relaxation and healthier sleeping habits. The age of streaming has allowed the composer/keyboardist to share his talents for musical healing with a global audience for the first time – and to release a wealth of unique singles and full-length albums with titles chosen to embody their intentions to promote good overall physical, emotional and spiritual health.

These include “Paradise,” “Heaven’s Transition,” “Heaven and Earth” and “Divine Grace of God.” Likewise, his songs “Masquerade” and “Cool Breeze” are on the uplifting transcendent side.

These two tracks appear on his latest album Relaxing artistic music to soothe your soul.
In addition, Richard’s album Love Letters To God is a magical collaboration with
singer/songwriter Carolyn Rose Wilson offering a lush and caressing musical dreamscape of divine love in action. The collection features transcendent instrumentals and spoken word pieces featuring Richard’s reassuring poetry about the ways we can connect with the intimacy and presence of God no matter our life circumstances.

"Bizarre, mind boggling with questioning motives.... involved and shockingly distrubing (but so is Tony) vile in nature, but simple enough to make you think...Yes bordering on the edge of sanity" ---  Tony Torres  (Matt's assistant or otherwise known as an Ass on the wart of society)

"Right away Richard made me feel very at home. We were able to collaborate both our ideas and create amazing images. Overall a tremendous experience, would love to work with again." -Shealyn

DARK SIDE HUMOR OFFERS BRIGHT FUTURE FOR HOMELESS
Some artists have a different vision.
For example, Escondido photographer Richard Spasoff.  He describes his images as “humor from the dark side.”
One supposes that a photo of a man in front of the Bates Motel from “Psycho” carrying a sign reading “I am not going to take a shower here” aptly illustrates that motto.
Spasoff’s next vision involves a coffin, a cemetery plot, a woman dressed to go dancing and some 30 extras from Palomar College.  They’re coming together at 12:30 this afternoon at Oak Hill Cemetery to capture the image on film.
Mary Watson, a home-care nursing assistant from Escondido, will be the woman in the coffin.
“IT is sort of strange,” agreed Watson, “but I can see a bit o humor in this thing he’s planning.”
Spasoff, who is working on a book of his images in an attempt to raise money to help the homeless, is looking for a few more people for this afternoon’s photos.  He invites all to come by the cemetery.
“I promise not to bury them,” he said.

To Whom It May Concern:
We have recently had the privilege of having on display in our club a truly original and profoundly enjoyable exhibit which I would like to recommend.
On Wednesday, August 21, 1996, our establishment, The Comedy Store at 916 Pearl Street, La Jolla, California, featured a one man show in our lobby displaying the comedy photographs of local photographer, Richard J. Spasoff.
This was the first exhibit of its kind to be held here, and it was well received by our patrons.
All of our staff is enthusiastic about the show and we are looking forward to having the exhibit back in the near future.
The people from KSPAZ Productions are professional and a joy to work with.  I would highly suggest to any club owner, manager, or coffee house proprietor that this display will entertain your customers, and at the same time bring in new ones.
The pictures are definitely a one of a kind experience.
Sincerely,
Ron Clark
