My name is Charlie Long and I’m 23 years old and a recent graduate from Georgetown University. At Georgetown I studied Government and English and was part of the Baker’s Scholars Program. The Bakers Trust selects ten sophomores annually to join the program for two years of intense business exposure and mentorship for liberal arts students. Through unique exposure, Bakers afforded me the confidence to pursue a non-traditional "Georgetown career" (non-banking/non-consulting) after leaving Georgetown.

After working and saving money throughout my Freshman year of college, I was able to buy a Canon 5D Mark III and really commit to exploring my passion for photography and videography. My Dad worked in advertising and editorial photography all his life and it was something I interacted with every day but had never made my own as a three season varsity athlete with plans to plan in college. My camera absolutely opened the world for me during the last three years of college. Beyond the experience of meeting new people and having an excuse to put myself into uncomfortable but formative situations, I was actually able to start making money and traveling for photography. My sophomore and junior years I traveled with the University to SXSW to chronicle their design thinking workshops. For two months after my graduation last May I traveled to the front line in Ukraine to record an interview series with volunteer soldiers fighting in the conflict against Russia. If you’d told me as a Freshman that three years later I would be running through trenches in 85 pounds of body armor with a camera in Eastern Europe I would have laughed at you. Photography really opened up my experience outside of the classroom and also led to my full time job in digital photography/creative direction at Hugh & Crye Menswear.
