My name is Eric Girard, I’ m 45 years old and as far as I’m concern, I’ve always been an adventurer. Growing up in a nice family with two evil sisters, I’ve always felt the need to challenge myself either academically or physically. I started developing an artistic eye during my teen, often imagining various ways of seeing things around me or writing short novels. At 24years old I moved to Vancouver, seeking a way to be involve in the movie business. After eleven years of various attempts, I decided to joint the military.

During my childhood, I was an average student with average score but would compensate by being very competitive in sport. I practice Judo, Taekwondo, Karate, and weight lifting. Being very active would sometime lead me to re-enact my favorite movies or TV series with my friend. If I had to do it again, I would be more involved in plays and Stage Theater.

During my last high school year, I met a drama teacher who had a profound impact on my life. After few conversations with him, I knew I wanted to be involved in the movie business. In 1994, I decided to move to British Columbia where I could pursue as I call, my movie adventure. Once establish in Vancouver, I tried to get into the movie business but soon realize that it is much harder than it seems. I’ve encounter lots of door shut and I send more than enough resume to movie agents and company that works around movie sets. During those set backs, I did not give up once. I took English classes and did various job to put food on the table like: carpentry, sawmill worker, swimming instructor, and fitness instructor. In 2003 I decided to permanently depart from my childhood dream and choose a different path for the rest of my life.

In 2005, I joint the Canadian military. My first trade was Traffic Technician. I did not like that, not one bit. After 4 years and one week, I requested a transfer as Image Technician. I was posted in CFB Bagotville as an Image Tech; I really enjoyed taking photography, and video. I had lots of opportunity for great photography, I participated in various exercise such as: Maples Resolve 2013, Guerrier Nordiques 2013, Bagotville Airshow 2011-13. Last year, I got posted to Combat Camera in Ottawa.

In conclusion, I could be sum up as an adventurer seeker. All my past life experiences have served me well in developing photographic skills for the Canadian Forces.
