About Me

I'm a part time photographer working in partnership with my wife, Alys, who is a full time wedding and portrait photographer. While Alys takes care of the social photography side of the business I deal with the more commercial end of things, although I also see my fair share of weddings, bumps and babies, and general family portraiture too. In recent years I've also done a lot of work photographing dogs on location, aiming for a fine art portraiture look.

Beyond the photography I'm in partnership with another local photographer delivering photography training courses, so I'm beginning to look for models who are happy working fashion levels with small groups of photographers in a very controlled environment. At the moment we're working with a local wildlife trust to deliver training courses for them.

Model photography is one of those things I really enjoy, even if I don't get as much opportunity to do this sort of work as I'd like. I'm very much more into the fashion levels than the more glamour / nude type of thing, with tasteful boudoir being roughly the limit for me. Personally I take the view that the things you can't see make a photo much sexier than the things you can. I guess I'm all about subtlety.

When I'm shooting I always try to make sure that my model(s) and the rest of my creative team are kept safe and happy. I'll always try and have bottles of water and if the weather is a bit chilly, a flask of something hot. I work on the principal that I'll get the best results from a happy and comfortable model. I'm definitely a hands-off photographer - it's important to me that I respect my model's personal space and so I prefer to direct poses using just my voice.
