About my photography

I am a Durban based lifestyle & portrait photographer trading under the name Midnight Studios.

Midnight Studios was a natural name selection derived from the early days when night times were the only real free time I had to pursue more interesting and creatives projects outside of my day to day commitments. Ironically the more I pursued these creative activities during normal hours the more I worked into midnight.

I focus on portrait and couples photography and prefer to use strobes whenever I can to shape light to my hearts desire. The rest of the time I make do with what is available.

I love to collaborate with other creatives and discovered when people work together some amazing things can be achieved.

I use professional advanced editing techniques on all my photographs and devote careful consideration to the finest details to ensure consistency and quality.

My goals include:

~ Creating meaningful & professional networks with creatives such as Florists, Designers, Stylists, Make-Up Artists and Models.

~ Creating meaningful & professional networks with Service Providers and Prominent Companies.

~ Collaborating with creatives to create intriguing, interesting and beautiful images.

~ Improving my portfolio while expanding my experience in the field of professional photography.

~ Connect & share with other role-players to ensure I remain competitive and provide a quality and valued service to my clients.

~ Achieving the above goals in order to have happy and satisfied clients who keep on coming back.



My expectations include:

~ Achieving professionalism with respect without sacrificing on the human experience.

~ Creating images which are both admired and appreciated.

~ Creating a reputation and art that is desired.



About who I am (without my camera).

I have a love-hate relationship with humanity, mainly because of the untamable nature of human beings, but my experiences have also taught me that there is astounding beauty to be found. This makes me hopeful and excited about meeting new people, and to be honest, sometimes it is a bit scary too.

I consider myself to be brave, but not stupid. So I am willing to do whatever I can to look after the people whom I love. I find my life experience with things, such as gender equality confusing, however I do believe in it steering humanity in the right direction. Even though it can be confusing at times, I do not let it deter me from being chivalrous.

I have days were I think I am a genius, and others where I do inexplicably idiotic things. I have resigned myself that neither defines me, since I fundamentally believe that all people are capable of both, and that it is our actions derived from our desires which ultimately shape who we are.

I have a beautiful and supportive woman on my side and we share a life with many ups and downs. Together we love and raise our daughter, whom at the time of writing is a beautiful ten-month old, red-haired, blue-eyed angel. However, I fear she grows up to hastily.

I have always been filled with curiosity, it fills my imagination, it drives me, inspires me and moves my soul. It was what led me to a camera and ultimately photography.
