Gabriela Hnizdo is a New York based photographer and artist focused on capturing the accentuated and psychological un-realities and realities of human life through creating photographs and short films. She is intrigued by the beauty and power of light and nature, and how people interact with it unknowingly.​
Growing up between Arizona and New York has brought her to hold on closely to cultivating her work as busy scenes of tranquility. Serene landscapes among secret places are juxtaposed with loud elements that might only appear within dreams to remind viewers that there is always a coexistence of peace and interruption, and to cause discomfort within the viewer.
Painting and the world of cinema have always affected the attention to color-palettes within each individual scene. Artists such as Hayao Miyazaki, Wes Anderson, and Gregory Crewdson have deep influences on her work, and have pushed her love for using analogue photography and video work to portray her imagination.
