Hi,
Thank you for checking out my page! A few years ago, two great friends of mine, the late Kenneth Hope (a European fashion and art photographer) and s. m. Art (an Amsterdam-based art photographer) both told me to take the chance, and go pro -- it took a while, but I have. Like my friends, who became my mentors, my work focuses primarily on the nude female form, with the object of creating ART that encompasses both the intellect and inspires emotion, something with both story, and a sense of "What if?" -- I want my work to inspire conjecture, for the viewer to ask what happened before the shot, and wonder what happened after in their own unique mental story-line. My major influences are Gibson, Jonvelle and Lindbergh. The nature of my work is aesthetic; I shoot primarily in Black & White with my Canon 5D mark III, and my figure work is almost always lit with strobes; my home is generally my studio, but other locations have been used. "I have nothing more to give other than that which I know to be true --" To me, the true profundity of photography as an Art is to be found in the nuance and ambivalence of portraiture and figure study, of body detail and bodyscape -- that is where the magic is for me, where the poetry resides and the Muses whisper. I always use the standard Getty Release Form, as my shoots have the goal of creating either Limited Edition Art prints or Artist Proofs, with the possibility of inclusion in a projected book or books -- I have been blessed in being given a number of awards, and of seeing my work in an exhibition. I'm becoming increasingly selective as to the sites where my work is shown, but for the present time I can be found on facebook as Photography Kirchhoff and instagram as c.w.kirchhoffphotography as further sites are developed. I almost never do a shoot until we've met, the exception being contract and/or overseas talent, so let's have coffee if you're in the area, and talk about Art -- Thank You! P.S.: I won't shoot with fur, nor dead animals, nor any parts taken therefrom, including bones -- it's a personal standard. Additionally, I will not include weapons of any sort, nor depict violence or the threat of violence in any way -- again, it's personal, and a standard that I won't compromise upon.
