I began shooting sports photography as part of my sports writing job for a local newspaper over 10 years ago. After pursing other career options, my severe hearing loss forced me to return to my passion in early 2013. Since then, my pictures have reached people and publications in Louisiana, Arizona, Michigan, Texas and Miami. My pictures and writings are published regularly in Quick Slants Magazine, The Abbeville Meridional and The Daily Advertiser. I've also been featured in The Baton Rouge Advocate and on Nola.com, as well as many recruiting sites.
This large amount of exposure led to my shooting senior pics, which in turn, led to my desire to create extraordinary still shots. South Louisiana has absolutely beautiful scenery and people, yet aspiring models must leave here to find work. One of my goals is to bring those people home. Another is to attract outsiders to the unique bayous, buildings and landscapes that can be easily turned into amazing works of art.
I love to capture the emotion of someone in the moment. I'm not into posing with a smile. I much prefer shooting people who display the emotion and passion in their eyes, face and body language. My goal is for my pictures to look like real life moments and the way a person would react in the given situation.
I am self-taught. Therefore, shooting with me is an original experience in itself. I don't know or really care how other people do it. I'm very professional, yet I'm also very good at creating a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Once that happens the model and I are lost in the moment, but the camera captures them.
I'm open to shooting anything. I cannot color inside the lines. I'd almost say the racier the better. I do enjoy pushing the boundaries of art because through art we can push the boundaries of society and open the minds of the masses, and thus, advance civilization.
