Andrew Jackson was born in Dudley, West Midlands. He gained a First Class Honours Degree in photography at Wolverhampton University studying under Nick Hedges and an MA with distinction in Documentary Photography at Newport (University of Wales) where he studied under Paul Seawright.

His work is held in The Garman Ryan Collection at the New Walsall Art Gallery and at The Library of Birmingham photographic archive. He has had solo exhibitions at The Focal Point Gallery, The New Walsall Art Gallery, The Unit 2 Gallery and as part of a commission from the London School of Economics at The Atrium Gallery. In 2012 he was nominated for the Prix Pictet photography Prize.

He has a specific interest in exploring and exploiting the notions and conventions of documentary practice and narrative but also identity and representation; within works that have sought to examine our emotional responses both to the spaces that surround us but also to the emotional spaces that exist between ourselves and others.

He is the co-director of Some Cities CIC
