I am joining model mayhem to find models to paint. Generally I like to do a photoshoot which takes 1-2 hours. I like to incorporate the models creative input when possible as to location, styling and any other input. Price is negotiable based on experience etc.

Just as with poetry which can take the mechanics of the written word and transcend it into the realm of human emotion, I use paint as a vehicle to express that realm.

My goal is to bring into view those moments which connect us to the simple act of being alive. In our busy overly crowded society we often miss the intense beauty of simple moments when nothing is taking place other than our own divine existence. The motion of a cat calmly walking across the plains of Kenya or the expanse of carpeting in our living rooms. The way the light reflects in her eyes and sparkles like a galaxy. The way her shoulders gracefully rise and fall as millions of cells work in harmony. So many of our “mundane” moments are taken for granted, but when we take notice, and sit with them, their beauty reveals itself to us.

There is a dance of energy between the model the artist and the viewer. Each playing a key roll in creating a bond between us all. The moment the model was sitting, the moment the paint hit the canvas, the moment you are viewing the image and reacting to it with your mind, body or spirit. Time is transcended and brought together so we might share a thread of emotion. Perhaps it manifests as a reminder to slow down, breathe, and rest our mind. Perhaps it occurs as a reaching out to let us know we are not alone in our moments of isolation.

I am particularly interested in the divine feminine. Not the over sexualized and airbrushed societal ideal of perfection. Not the explosive passionate epic moments of our extremes. But the strong, centered, vulnerable, nurturing energy of a human woman. Perhaps the calm warrior spirit that protects her cubs can protect our existence. Perhaps her capacity to love can fill our empty spaces of pain or teach us all to love ourselves enough to heal rather than self-destruct.
