I'm a Washington, DC area-based photographer interested in bringing together good gear, good light, and talented models in the service of artistic creation.

One thing unique about me is, although I have extensive experience with 35mm SLR/DSLR systems (and still maintain a complete Nikon kit), you'll usually find me on location wielding a Leica rangefinder. I'm always seeking emotionally evocative images and I find the manually-focused rangefinder to be wonderful in "getting out of the way." It doesn't hurt that Leica glass is the best in the world.

I do shoot color. But I prefer black and white.

I deeply love the quality and convenience of modern digital photography. But I also love film and still periodically shoot it. Nothing will ever replace Tri-X (or Kodachrome, RIP...).

I love natural light. But I also love how a good photographer can conjure magic using speedlight and strobe.

Mostly, it's about revealing the art that's there. Working with a subject to create a bit of beauty, a hint of immortality.
