About Me

About Me:
Good experience, have been retouching for around 4 years. Lots of experience with Photoshop. My main specialism is skin, however I can work with all types of images. Also dabble as a photographer. Originally joined this site for tips and to see what very experienced retouchers are capable of. Contact me if you need some photos retouched. I prefer to make photos look natural and realistic but if you want full blown magazine plasticness I can do it.

Paid Service:
Paid assignments can be done quickly on short notice (depending on number of photographs and agreed price). Prices are variable depending on complexity, speed, etc.

My base rates (for one-off images) are $15 to $40 depending on the work required. Obviously this is highly dependent on speed requirement so will vary considerably. And of course prices would be lower for multiple images / bulk work. Additionally, images that I would be allowed to use in my portfolio will attract lower pricing.

When pricing paid assignments I tend to follow the idea that you can select 2 out of these 3: fast, high quality, cheap. Since most people always require high quality that leaves speed as the determining factor for price.

My work method is to retouch the images to the brief given by the client, then upload a "proof" version to dropbox and give the link. If the client is happy with the result, payment is taken via PayPal (gives us all protection) and then the full final images without "proof" stamped across are uploaded to dropbox and a link given. If any minor adjustments are needed they can be done after the first proof stage. Any adjustments that were not briefed and priced for will be at my discretion whether to surcharge for. (This will be based on an objective view of the extra time taken than expected). Bulk retouching of 4 or more images will require 50% upfront payment. I suggest first 1 paid retouch is performed before starting with a bulk project.

Non-Paid Services:
Non-paids must be authorised for use on portfolio, website, mm, etc. I will only retouch for free where I think there is a definite benefit to both our portfolios. Credit must given anywhere used and no commercial use allowed (portfolio, mm, Facebook does not constitute my definition of commercial). Speed is inconsistent if doing for free as obviously other things will take priority.

Portfolio Use:
Unless specifically requested, I never wish to post before & after images, whenever I ask to use in my portfolio I merely wish to use the finished image. As mentioned above, if allowed to use final images in my portfolio, there will be a slight price reduction.

"From start to finish, working with Jack was a breeze. Communication, personality, and most importantly detail (especially him being a retoucher) are what make Jack stand out. He did a stand-up job on my photo and was definitely worth collaborating with!" Read less
