Biography of Grindin' Pun

Allen Lane, aka Grindin' Pun was born Jan. 26, 1990 on the West Side of Chicago. Pun grew up in the Henry Horner projects two blocks away from the legendary United Center, just minutes from the beautiful skyline of Downtown Chicago. Being raised near the United Center offered him an up-close and personal look of the luxuries that money could buy (downtown condos, cars, jewelry, etc). Being motivated by the things he saw, he quickly started thinking of ways to make money. Originally, he wanted to become a professional football player, but Pun quickly fell in love with the hobby of playing with words that many have come to know as rapping.

Pun started his career writing poems in the 4th grade at the influential age of 9. His love of writing poems quickly inspired him to write rap lyrics. By the age of 11, his written lyrics and rebellious attitude joined as one as he set out to further explore his creative talents. In 2001, Pun and his three cousins started a rap group called "S.W.A.T.” New members joined the group and became intrigued by Pun's cool, yet sly ways. The group was later renamed "Chi-Town Shysters," also known as C.T.S. in 2006. Now having nine members that looked up to him for motivation as well as support, Pun lead the group and made all of the necessary decisions for the Chi-Town Shysters. As Pun continued with his high school education, he and the group members decided that they needed more funding to finance their careers, which would catapult the group to a new level. Some got jobs while others looked to the streets to make money. With more money coming in, Pun and C.T.S. started making an impact on the local underground rap scene.

In January 2007, C.T.S. was featured on Fox News Chicago for their accomplishments and acquired even more support in attaining their goals. With their exposure from the interview, more people started recognizing Pun and Chi-Town Shysters locally and musically. Following that publicity, Pun has made many business endeavors. He has appeared on public access television numerous times, and blazed stages throughout the mid-west, south, and east coast. In addition, Pun has been featured on 25 mix-Tapes since May 2008 along with releasing 4 solo mix-tapes. Grindin' Pun successfully achieved radio play on Chicago's biggest hip-hop radio station, 107.5 WGCI, with his song entitled "Gangsta On" in 2008. December 2013 marked the release of part 2 of his "Established 2 Grind" mix-tape series with songs that are climbing the iTunes and Spotify charts.

With so much success, at the age of 25, Grindin' Pun has a right to call himself one of the best independent rap artists in the world.

Grindin' Pun is the Chairman/C.E.O. of L.G.M. Entertainment and Chi-Town Shysters (C.T.S.). He is also a practicing artist development, and artist management.
