Ramsay Mead is a Californian born photographer who started his career as a fashion model and worked in every field; print, runaway and commercial acting. He got the cover of Men´s Health magazine and shot campaigns for Abercrombie and Fitch, Speedo and Ralph Lauren. Over more than a decade, he had the opportunity to work with great photographers like Bruce Weber and learned what it takes to be in front and behind the camera. His big step as a fashion photographer came when he showed his first portfolio to legendary photographer Bruce Weber. He loved it. Next day, Weber booked everyone he had photographed for a shooting and asked him to work as his photo assistant. Weber became his mentor. Ramsay soon expanded his fields to advertising, corporate, and product photography and learned to use the uncertainty of natural light and set up studio lighting situations as well. For another long decade, he worked on film and digital, and from the black and white of his most influential artists Bruce Weber and Jack Sturges to a color photography inspired in the 70´s. Ramsay´s Mead style is often described as haunting and narrative. He uses landscapes as a projection of the subject´s mood and his meticulous attention to details imbues his photos with cultural, historical and cinematic subtle references. He is the winner of the Kodak photojournalism award, What Matters Most. His work is also sold as fine art.
