My name is Ely and I have been photographing things that I find interesting for about 20 years. In the beginning, it was wildlife, from insects to large cats to gators. I also didn't have much interest in photographing people at that time! About 13 years ago I started to shoot people, and from then on I have been enthralled by shooting people, headshots (if I have to...), outdoor editorial / location shoots and even a bit of street photography. The early years shooting wildlife taught me great foundational skills in dealing with natural light. The later years taught me how to mold, bend shape and create artificial light to my will, but mostly it taught me how to blend both natural and artificial light into a single cohesive whole. As I mentioned, my strong preference is for editorial type of work, usually at fun or interesting locations. I have done some mainstream fashion shooting for various designers, and while that has been great, I prefer having the the only constraint being that of myself and the model I am working with. I am a big fan of collaboration, but my time is limited so I hope no one is offended if I chose not to shoot a particular look or concept as it just means it is not something that is the appropriate fit for my style or portfolio, and is not a reflection in any way on you the model.
