Michael Gardner is a painter who has shown his works in NY, Texas, and Los Angeles where he currently lives.
All works are considered ‘paintings’ regardless of the media used, and each series of paintings Michael produces has a specific story or idea that compels the work, in the same narrative manner of a movie, book, play or opera.
The work specifically presented here relates to my figurative stance, and how I like to work with the human form in representation.
Themes are generated through a reflection of the world Michael finds himself living in. Searching for understanding to his place in the grand scheme, and the commonalities we all share in this. Applying spiritual questions and insights to his painting, with the aim of visually simplifying what may be explicitly overwhelming. Desire, defeat, acceptance, judgement, love, fear, time, and space.
