Nathaniel James Flick
Nathaniel “Nate” Flick was raised in Algona, Iowa, a small town whose claim to fame is that it is home to the world’s largest Cheeto…and not much else large, which is why Nate promptly left Algona to pursue his career as a hair stylist after graduating from high school.
Nate’s next home was the bustling mid-western city of Omaha, Nebraska, where he attended and graduated from Xenon International Academy of Hair Design. Because he was driven to begin his career as quickly as possible, Nate took the accelerated program and finished at the top of his class.
Before leaving Xenon, Nate had already secured a position as colorist to the owner of Omaha’s prestigious Salon Tino. Inspired to take the next step on his career path, Nate became self-employed in a studio salon environment. Within three years, he and a partner established and opened their own business, James Harris Salon.
During that same time, Nate was recruited by and began his role as artistic educator for Matrix Professional Hair Care and Color, a division of L’Oreal. It was through his experiences and exposure as an educator that Nate achieved a Master Colorist level of expertise from the L'Oreal Global Academy. Nate realized in order for him to continue his career trajectory, he would need to be in place where people shared his passion and dedication for hair. That prompted his decision to relocate to New York City, where more than just the Cheetos are large.
