Friends (11)About Me
I only point the camera, you are the story.
I prefer faces and movement in available light. I always want you to look like yourself and to somehow benefit from our time. Everyone who points a camera knows we need faces, the faces don't need us. The camera records mechanistically, intrusively; individuals strive to artfully bridge that space. I'm interested in what may broadly be called wild/spontaneous and passing beauty. I'm trying to see and make humane images of people whose faces I find interesting. I am not a technician or retoucher, I admire their results sometimes, but their craft is not what I do. I hesitate to use the word art, especially in regard to my own somewhat documentary style; but a remarkable face in an interesting moment is what I'm trying to see. You will recognize yourself in my images, even at your most accessorized and festooned, I prefer to see you. Most of you are making a memory trove of how you were, and that has merit in and of itself. I saw the most famous face of her era the other day, and you would never know. So her scrapbook shows how she was along her way. There is a living in this for a few, the rest of us are trying to make art and memories. Good luck to you, remember the camera only ever records the surface symmetries and reflections; your character, your inner beauty remains hidden to the lens. Credit Notes
