Dee’s Couture- The Woman, the Designer, the Entrepreneur
Deborah Cooper, or Ms. Dee as she is known professionally, developed a love for sewing at an early age. Inspired by her grandmother Lola Jones, who could make virtually anything without a pattern, Ms. Dee began making clothing for her dolls at the tender age of nine and has not looked back since. She began to venture beyond doll clothing into creating garments for herself and her siblings. It is important to note that much like her grandmother, Ms. Dee has had no formal training in pattern making, sewing, or clothing design; yet her garments reflect the precision, attention to detail and quality of one who has studied in the most prestigious of design institutes. She humbly credits her creative ability as a “gift from God” that stems from the love for sewing that she inherited from her grandmother. Dee’s Couture, the design house of Ms. Dee, has garnered a clientele that extends throughout the United States and abroad and has been featured in a host of fashion editorials such as Grace Today, Versus Magazine, Style Magazine and Hype Hair Magazine to name a few. Yet another noteworthy accomplishment for Dee’s Couture is a full feature in Sophia Davis’ prestigious New York Fashion Avenue Magazine. The designs of Dee’s Couture have appeared in a host of formidable fashion shows and venues to include New York Fashion Week, Black Beauty Expo, Hype Hair Fashion Show, Maryland Fashion Week, and Fashion on the Hudson as well as the elite Glynn Jackson Golden Scissors Hair Show. In the process of establishing herself as a giant in the fashion industry, Ms. Dee is also a woman with a giant heart. Her support of the community has been demonstrated in her voluntary participation in a variety of community and health awareness events that include the Richmond based Models Against Cancer Fashion Show as well the nationally sponsored fundraising campaign for The American Heart Association Fashion Show to name a few. Dee’s Couture was the feature design line in the Walk a Mile in My Shoes Fashion Show in support of the restoration of women who have been subject to abusive relationships. To further demonstrate her service and support of the community, Ms. Dee is a board member and co-visionary behind DVL Enterprise, a faith-based fashion and entertainment industry organization focused on the cultivation, education and promotion of youth with aspirations toward becoming an industry professional. In short, Deborah Cooper: The Woman, The Designer, The Entrepreneur is a force to be reckoned with on all levels. Verified Credits (0)Worked with Dee Couture?
