Welcome to our MM profile! Juxtaposition Photographic Arts is a photography business in Poway, CA, and we joined MM to explore the more creative aspects of portrait photography. We're a husband & wife team, and we perform many, many types of photography. With every photo project we embark on, respect for the subject is always on the forefront of our planning process, a process that can take weeks or months. We do not shoot anything depicting anyone as subservient or subhuman, and we don't like to shoot cheesy T&A photos. We don't like major photo retouches because we want our subjects to walk away actually feeling good about themselves and we're looking to buck the current standards of what it means to be beautiful. Though we CAN take great headshot/fashion photos, our profile here is really for the more creative stuff. All the projects we take on are meant to be empowering for the subject and more geared towards art gallery projects. Our landscape photography is award-winning and has, in fact, been featured in many galleries from San Diego to Santa Barbara, and we are looking to move into fine art portraits for gallery presentations.

As noted above, we spend weeks, sometimes months planning our creative shoots, and we hope you will value our time as much as we will value yours. We do keep very busy schedules, so it's common for us to have to schedule shoots 4-8 weeks in advance, but this doesn't mean we don't value your time. We pour a lot of time into prepping for our shoots, many of which run 3-4hrs long as we run through lists of ideas, and we like to get great content the first time (and we always do).

One long-term (over years) goal we do have is to photographically present a series on depression, a topic very close to us, though we're still planning how to do this tactfully/respectfully (and we're open to ideas).

Equipment used includes Nikon D800 DSLR bodies (2), SB-910 flash units (2), SB-800 flash units (2), multiple Nikkor lenses including the 80-200mm f/2.8, Pocket Wizard wireless triggers, 24-inch soft boxes (2), 52-inch strip box, umbrellas, garage photo studio with 108-inch backdrops (black, white, grey), multiple 5-in-1 reflectors up to 72-inch, creative minds, and experience with Photoshop and Lightroom. We're most interested in creative portraiture or more conceptual ideas. You can view our portfolio and full equipment list at https://www.JuxPhoto.com.

"It was an absolute pleasure to work with Jason of JuxPhoto. He was adamant about getting as perfect of a photo as possible, even if it took an extra 30 seconds to adjust a light. He was encouraging and gave me plenty of room to express myself, adding his professional opinion exactly when it was needed." Read less

Hey, I'm interested to come to America in future but at the moment while traveling is still difficult, I am offering remote shoots afternoons on Wednesdays or Mondays Melbourne time until March 8th. I'm currently working with another photographer to do these shoots but I hope in future to get my own gear and do more on location remote shoots. I have a CBD apartment with a rooftop balcony, large natural light windows, a range of backdrops, props & can use the buildings facilities of a gym, spa, pool & sauna. My rates for remote shoots would be less than what I charge for in person shoots. Let me know how many hours you would like me to quote you for and if you like to pay by PayPal or a bank transfer to my UK bank or AUS bank. We would tether the camera to the laptop and screen share so you can control the settings/shots & we could chat over FaceTime or WhatsApp during the shoot. The gear we have is a Sony full frame camera with a range of lenses available; 50mmf1.8, 85mmf1.4gm, 17-28f2.8, 28-75f2.8, 105f1.4gm, 70-200f2.8gm
Would love to know what style you would like to shoot & when. Hope to hear from you soon! All the best, kind regards.
