Thirty years ago, after a career in the military, I spent some time in the United Nations and it took me all over the world. It was the culture and history of the Middle East and the breathtaking beauty and majestic vistas of Africa that sparked a passion for photography. Eager to nurture the craft, I studied photography at The Rochester Institute of Technology and Ryerson University where I obtained a BFA and then a career in NYC working with legends Ryszard Horowitz and Joyce Tenneson. Numerous detours along the way always fed an obsession with capturing precious milestones in high-quality print photography.

Settled in Greenwich, CT, I started Mitchell Portraits and yourbeautyportraits.com to celebrate the beauty, longevity, and immeasurable value of portraits. In today's fast-paced digital world where quick shots captured on iPhones are easily discarded and most often forgotten, my prints create heirloom-quality, highly treasured art that will hold historic significance for families for generations to come.
