About Me
BIO
Levy's story begins in the tiny town of Wilton, Wisconsin where she was the daughter of an Army soldier and the oldest of three children. Following in her father's footsteps, her inspiration was defined by the eight years she spent in the U.S. Army as an equipment mechanic, a path she chose due to their reluctance to hire a woman for the position. After active duty, Levy returned to Wisconsin to attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she earned a BFA in Photography and Fibers. Throughout her career as an artist/fashion designer and author, she has competed in several local juried exhibitions. Levy’s couture designs have been the highlight of several fashion shows including Run Up to the Runway at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Her fashions have also been featured in several editorials including M magazine, and INFO magazine. Recently, she was a contestant for television's Lifetime Series, Project Runway, season 12. Her designs directly relate to her military experience exploring the use of camouflage and tailoring to expose and disguise the female body. Levy’s fashions allow women to have a strong identity while wearing her one-of-a-kind garments. Although Project Runway exposed Levy to a wider audience, she remains a strong member of Milwaukee’s fashion and art community. Her award-winning designs have been showcased in M Magazine, Info Magazine, and Marie Claire among others. Since returning from the show, she has worked with charity groups such as the Wisconsin Humane Society, the Service Women’s Action Network, the Discovery World Museum Foundation and is working as an artist-in-residence at Milwaukee Public School’s Bay View High School and as an adjunct professor at the Art Institute of Wisconsin.
