If Doug Workmaster hadn’t become a photographer, he might’ve ended up on the wrong side of the law. Perhaps as a peeping Tom. Maybe even a journalist.

He loves more than anything to get people to reveal
some thing about themselves--whether it’s something they really are or something they wish they could be. His lens finds the kid inside the CEO, the CEO inside the diva, and the diva in every one of us. Once he found an Incan monkey god inside his cat Steven, but that’s another story.

A resident of San Francisco since 1987, Doug has studied his craft at the feet of the city’s leading photographers. Once they let him stand up, he found his photos improved immeasurably, and he decided to start a studio of his own. He now shoots in a 1200-sq.-foot loft space in the Mission district, just a stone’s throw from the 101 (though the highway patrol no longer allows him to prove that point).
