About Me

Note: Music is my first career, but I've been published in Urban Ink, XXL, and done numerous fashion shows around the US. Looking to build my portfolio with amazing photographers as well as building my image for my music.

There are not too many that are like 24 year-old Los Angeles-based rapper/songwriter/engineer Young Lace. While he is taking over the internet and the streets by storm, he also is dealing with the trials and tribulations of everyday life. TheRapper/Producer/Songwriter/Engineer has over 1.7+ million hits on YouTube with lyrical gems like, "Bad Bitches & Good Weed" "I Don't Wanna Be You" feat. Wiz Khalifa, "Say Cheese" and "Lil' Secret", one would not even expect that the young man has done hard time in Folsom State Prison.

Even after accepting a full scholarship to play basketball in North Carolina, Lace decided the hoop dreams were no longer for him, and a downward spiral began after he put the ball down. The lifestyle he chose and decisions he made wound up landing him in the Los Angeles County Jail, facing charges that could have landed him in jail for 7 years. After fighting his case and eventually losing 2 years of his life to the system, Lace put his mind toward taking over the music scene as soon as he came home. While he was away, he spent his time reading books, and embracing his temporary stay inside the old prison. After so many days of preparation, creating the music was almost "too easy" says Lace, "I started making music in 2006, so I've already been through years of lyrical development, and overall growth as an artist and a person. But once I was able to really sit and just take my time for what it was worth, I feel like I took off lightyears ahead of my competition who I felt was still out here taking life for granted. Lace emerged from the walls a new man, releasing 6 music videos in less than 3 months for his "Above Average" project with DJ Mustard, who is most famous for creating Tyga's "Rack City", and 2Chainz "I'm Different" Along with his new stardom comes tons of work, Lace has been very busy doing interviews with The Source, XXL, Playboy Magazine, Fader Magazine and more,

Things immediately began looking good for Young Lace. Instead of coming out and jumping into the mainstream world of the industry, he decided to plant his seeds for the long haul. Lace became more focused on his grind and began working on the underground circuit with projects such as, "Above Average" which boasts his record with Wiz Khalifa & Glasses Malone "I Don't Wanna Be You", "Money In" feat. Kid Ink & his 2nd mixtape "Bipolar" which boasted features from Casey Veggies, Brisco & Rich Hil. His hard work paid off and the music industry began to take notice.

UPDATE: Within 2 days of its release, "Above Average" garnered critical acclaim, reaching almost 50,000 total downloads in the first day. & "Bipolar" received over 80K downloads alone on LiveMixtapes.

After Above Average was released, the national request for Lace perform rolled in, And since then Lace has traveled the states at a fast pace with stops already in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, San Diego, Utah, New York and Houston.

Having a website that receives as much traffic at "itsyounglace.com" was an opportunity Lace looked at to make major revenue. After launching his first online merch store with "The Wave Race" the first batch of T-shirts were sold out before the manufacturing was complete. 1000 tees were sent out around the entire world from Los Angeles to Texas, from Austrailia to London, the Lil Secret was no longer a secret at all. Lace was here to stay.

Feeling good after solidifying himself as a underrated artist, Lace began collaborating quickly and has worked with big time artists such as, Wiz Khalifa, Roscoe Dash, TIP, Kid Ink, Akon and many more. Lace's uncompromising work ethic would not allow him to rest on his more than impressive laurels; there needed to be a 'visual' movement to showcase his innovative style and unique persona.

Young Lace released an amazing 8 music videos from April-August in 2012 alone. Tearing the Net to shreds, to date his now 15 released videos have garnered a very impressive 1.7 plus million views. Bucking the norm of waiting for a major label deal to kick off his career, the rapper has taken his fate in to his own hands and crafted an internet campaign that has reached levels as high as an interview on MTV with Hip-Hop Guru Slay. With videos under his belt including Internet sensations "Gettin High" feat. Cashout Kidd, "Old English" and his "Dreams & Nightmares Remix" which was debuted on Hot97 via Funk Master Flex, Young Lace is definitely making his own decisions.

Always keeping his marketing a high priority. His website, www.itsyounglace.com gets between 32,000-35,000 hits a month, his , his Twitter fan base is continually growing with 25k plus Followers YouTube has more than 250k views in less than 6 months of being re-created. Even the fashion community has also taken notice of the Hip-Hop star. Lace has Brand Relations with companies ranging from Diamond Supply, Members Only, and many more…
