DJ McDermott, declared the “Updo King” by Pageantry Magazine, has been in the beauty industry for over twenty years. His passion for hair design and styling, accompanied by his diverse background have allowed him to truly relate to the industry as a whole. DJ has been featured in a variety of publications and media. He has served as a judge and stylist for a variety of pageants such as Mrs. America, Miss Colorado USA, and Mrs. Colorado America.

Aside for the pageant world DJ has worked as a traveling stylist, styled for local television networks, numerous photoshoots, and runway shows. DJ has also spent time working for a number of product lines teaching product knowledge, hair color, hair cutting, and of course updos! He is also certified in the application of Great Lengths hair extensions, as well as designing custom hair pieces to accent his designs. In 2008 DJ was featured on the hit reality show Split Ends. In 2009, DJ was choosen to style for the world’s largest hair show, Cosmoprof. With the inspiration and knowledge that DJ has acquired, he has created a complete system of formal styling called Updo-ology.
