About Me

During his senior year of high school, L.A. native Viktor Hernandez purchased a used Sony VX 2100 and began documenting his adventures in skateboarding. His friends would tag along for the cause; a tight-knit crew of pro skating locals such as: Oscar Meza and Tony Karr. When they weren’t climbing school fences to skate on closed campuses til sunrise, they were traveling up and down the California coast to seek out the most challenging street courses; documenting every step of the way. After taking just the right amount of risks and capturing the rawest elements of street skateboarding, Viktor directed his first short film: Just Skate, winning best documentary at the Xanadu Film Festival. From there he directed and filmed various feature-length documentaries and webisodes, all featured on renown skate sites such as: Transworld and The Skateboard Mag.

Not long after graduating High School, Viktor secured a position with Sony as production assistant. In 2008, Viktor filmed a short documentary on the skateboarding culture based in Long Beach California. The film was titled: On the Grind and was aired on the Documentary Channel. The film also won various awards including: Best Short Documentary at the Roxbury International Film Festival in 2011. After completing his film degree, Viktor became assistant editor for his first narrative feature film, Road to Juarez, which premiered at the Beverly Hills Film Festival.

With a focal point on music journalism, Viktor has worked on various projects including: Artifact, a feature film documentary about the music industry, starring the band: Thirty Seconds to Mars. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the People’s Choice Award. From there he branched off into the world of music video production, working with artists such as The Jonas Brothers, Karmin, Cher Lloyd, and more.

Viktor Hernandez currently resides in the heart of San Francisco as a professional filmmaker and photo journalist.
