I am a photographer and videographer among other things. At Model Mayhem, I want to collaborate with male and female models for indie portraits that have a natural, un-produced feel. The best photographs happen when we can work together—I like to collaborate with models and not just dictate direction. I prefer to shoot in natural light, indoors and outdoors.

I like to shoot with medium format film cameras in color and black and white. My other cameras range from old 35mm film SLRs and rangefinders to full-frame DSLRs.

[b]ARTISTIC VISION:[/b]
I am drawn to an natural feeling portraits that appear straightforward and produced without too much direction. I look for the delicate balance between lights and shadows, and the discovery of beauty in asymmetry. Aesthetic concepts of Wabi influence my style. When editing, I may remove a zit here and there but I won't air-brush your face beyond recognition.

[b]SEEKING:[/b]
I am always on the lookout for unique and interesting faces and natural body postures. In female models, I have a preference towards thick shoulder-length or longer hair, though this is not an essential requirement. For male models, I prefer short and evenly trimmed hairstyles over modern fades, and androgynous over manly looks. Freckles, tattoos (particularly well done sleeves), piercings, pixie and indie looks are cool.

I am primarily looking to work with models with at least some experience. However, I am always on the lookout for fresh faces. So, if you have little to no experience, do drop a line for some TF work. "Help me help you" build your portfolio.

[b]WORKING SESSION:[/b]
I often shoot outdoors (nature trails, state parks, college campuses, etc.) and without flash. I will use a reflector/diffuser if the situation needs it. I will sometimes work with a HMU artist but I prefer if you could do your own HMU -- this helps with the natural feel.

My portrait sessions are typically non-nude but they sometimes involve implied nudity or tasteful full nudity. I am happy to work with your comfort level and my interpretation of what will work for a particular model’s look. Themes requiring nudity will be discussed prior to the shoot, so don’t worry that it will come up at the last minute if we haven’t already discussed it.

[b]CASTINGS AND PAYMENT:[/b]
Please check my casting call section! Sometimes I offer a model fee for my projects, since I realize that Lakeland is not exactly drowning in creatives and that many of the people I would like to work with will have to travel to me. I typically reserve payment only for experienced models who demonstrate a wide range of themes and expressions in their portfolio. I am always happy to work with less experienced models on a TF basis if your look fits my project.

If your look doesn't fit my project but you want to work with me anyway, I am sure I can come up with a sliding scale of rates that could work for your budget.
