Daniel James is a Los Angeles based artist whose lifelong work and interest in visual arts, and the spiritual and unseen combine in his art to produce portraits that draw on the subject’s inner character and elemental qualities. His original focus was nature photography as a decorative abstraction, often using color and light as equal participants alongside the natural landscape. His work then evolved into photographic collages using found objects, paint, light and photographic images of people, producing a more complex composition, and a suggestion of an individual’s character, trait, or mood.
