For my entire life I’ve longed for a career in modeling, but until recently, I figured it was merely a pipe dream. As I became increasingly unhappy with the bland routine of office life, my dreams and aspirations would not be ignored. One day, on a whim, I finally decided to apply for a position as a model for a figure drawing class. My first day on the job, I received more positive feedback for my modeling skills than I ever expected. They couldn’t believe I had never modeled before, and they said I was a natural. A year and a half later and I still receive comments regularly from artists thanking me for my performance and imploring me to come back soon.

Because modeling requires media presence, it is crucial that an adept model be conscious of her impact on the society around her. Not only does a model act as an inspiration for the manifestation of art, but she is also a representation of beauty. A good model knows that beauty takes many forms, not just one. Models in the mainstream media are often considered to have forms and body styles that seem impossible for most women to attain without becoming seriously unhealthy. When beauty becomes this unattainable, it creates a general disposition of hopelessness for many women. Growing up in a society where obesity and anorexia prevail side by side makes it frustrating for any woman to maintain a healthy and confident outlook on her body.

My hope is that, by confidently representing a body size that hasn’t traditionally been accepted by the modern-day modeling industry, I can help bring variety to the industry and promote a healthy body style that will not make beauty seem so unattainable.

In addition to modeling, I have many other skills which lend themselves well to the industry. My professional background is in marketing and social science, and my degree is in Anthropology. I excel in customer service, sales and promo work at events and trade shows. I have experience with acting, singing, dance, music, performance art, photography, fashion and filmmaking. More than a decade of ballet, modern dance, Scottish dancing and violin playing also give my work a sense of flow and coordination.
