About Me

I am excited to invite models to join me in a unique studio project at Nocturne Lumina Studios, which I will be running from December 2023 through February 2025. This project is a deep dive into the art of light, shapes, and forms. It's a personal side-project of mine, Alton Christopher, an award-winning photographer who has been passionate about photography since 1977. In this venture, I'll be exploring high-key, low-key, and character lighting in my comfortable studio space located in Bellevue, WA.

I am 56 years old, and with age, I've found a renewed appreciation for the intricacies of studio work. This project is my way of focusing on what I love most, while being kind to my body that's no longer as eager for the physical demands of location photography. It's about specializing in an environment that suits me best.

In the past, my wife was an integral part of my projects, contributing as a makeup artist and assistant. Though her involvement has become less frequent due to other commitments, her spirit and expertise still influence my work. She might drop by occasionally to observe or assist. I want to emphasize that my primary focus is on creating captivating photographs. To ensure the comfort and trust of those I work with, I welcome models to bring along a friend or family member to the studio sessions. This project is a testament to my lifelong love for photography, and I am dedicated to making this a respectful, professional, and creatively enriching experience for everyone involved.

My studio work is deeply influenced by a diverse range of photographers. The creativity and vision of Edward Weston, Tina Modotti, Man Ray, Nobuyoshi Araki, and Helmut Newton have significantly shaped my approach to studio photography. Their work in exploring the human form, light, and abstract compositions inspire me to push boundaries in my projects. In addition, my interest in social and documentary photography is influenced by the powerful storytelling of Sebastiao Salgado, Steve McCurry, Eugene Atget, and Henri Cartier-Bresson. These influences come together in my work, creating a blend of artistic exploration and real-world narrative.

The best way to get involved is to send me a message on Model Mayhem. I check in once or twice a week and will be thrilled to discuss this opportunity with you. I'm looking forward to collaborating and creating beautiful art together, inspired by these great masters and our collective creativity.
