About Me

Jesus Beltran aka ELZUMPANGO is a filmmaker and photographer. His passion for storytelling informs all of his work, be it his original films, music videos, commercial content or still photography.

His first short film, THE GRASS GROWS GREEN, a story about a Marine recruiter’s toughest day on the job, premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and played at over 30 film festivals worldwide. His follow up short film, THE CHINA PROJECT, a story about Americans working, and whoring, in China, premiered at the 2008 Nashville Film Festival. His third short, TWENTY BUCKS, a story about an unemployed single dad who struggles to raise his kid right, was just completed and is on the 2013 film festival circuit.

He is currently in development on his debut feature film, AMERICANO, a film about a 'wetback' who don't take no shit and who's not looking to settle for just the typical American dream. AMERICANO was one of five projects that participated in the 2010-2011 Sundance Creative Producing Labs with Amy Lo as attached producer.

He has shot still photography on assignment during several Collegiate Bowl Games as well as on a travel study trip to Egypt - all for Stanford University and is looking to expand further into the still world. Of particular interest to ELZUMPANGO is fashion, music, sports, outdoor and lifestyle photography with a photojournalists' eye.

ELZUMPANGO was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX, attended Stanford and currently lives in the mountains of Northern California with his lovely wife and some cats. He is a member of the San Francisco Film Society, the National Press Photographer's Association and the owner and operator of Zumpango Films, an independent film production company.
