Sara is the designer behind Threadbare Supply Co., a knit and accessory design label in Brooklyn, NY.

Sara always loved making things, from building intricate dioramas of underwater caves to sewing totally lame (but at the time totally awesome) Halloween costumes. Somewhere along the way she found herself in a tiny studio in old world Florence, Italy, learning how to make jewelry at a bench and how to paint textiles using ancient methods.

After a few years back in the US, Sara quit her advertising jobs to embrace jewelry- and accessory-making, starting with gigs for J.Crew and Club Monaco. But through Threadbare Supply Co. she can make the tough, pretty things she wants to wear all the time. She designs, sketches, dyes, knits, and crafts her jewelry, scarves, totes, and knit goodies. And through small-batch production she finds she can ensure that each piece is special and that attention can be paid to all the details.
